Happy Birthday to me 2013

This year I once again posted  a request on face book for picture birthday greetings.  It totally makes my day to get them. This year my birthday was a pretty average day of doing errands and other mom things.  This totally made me feel loved.  One of my brothers questioned why I do this.  My response was I just want attention on my birthday.  On to the next year!

Let's go to Lego!

Let our next adventure begin!

Beautiful day.  Only about 90 degrees.

Posing with Max

Miss M strikes her car model pose.  Definitely a career in her future.

R kicked the tires and checked it all out.  What a cool car!

RR needs some lessons on getting into a car.
Our only real melt down was at the beginning when we were getting our passes.
Missy didn't want to smile for the camera.  She didn't think her hair looked good...?  I TRIED to fix it cute earlier, but it was a battle that wasn't worth fighting.
It's totally a mug shot.  And we plan to tease her about it all year, and possibly for years to come.

Crafting for me

Feeling a little selfish I decided to craft for myself.
I wanted a blankie for me to snuggle with.  The trouble with living in Florida is that it is too hot to really snuggle with thick blankets.  This small blanket was made with remnants I've bought from several stores over the last year.  I'm not the only one that can't pass the remnant bin, right?...right???
There was enough of the snuggle fabric left to make a rice bag to put just the right amount of heat on my sore muscles.  We love owls at our house.  I hope this doesn't disappear to Miss M's collection...

Here they are posing together.  Cute, huh!  I'm happy with them, and happy I made something for me!  Not that I was the first one (ones) to use the blanket, but it's the thought that counts.

Soccer Season

We have a friend that played soccer in college. She decided to run a low key, short soccer season/camp/thing for the local kids.  It was affordable and fun.
Miss M spend most of the season holding the coach's hand.

Rye ran fast and played hard
Receiving his medal
I didn't think they needed to get a medal (It wasn't a competitive season and I'm not big on participation awards) but the kids thought they were super cool.
It was heavy on skill drill and keeping things fun.  I'm glad we did it!

Ode to the Trampoline

Every day my children go outside and play together on the trampoline.

Every day they spend at least an entire hour together burning energy, using their imaginations, and laugh together on that trampoline.

Today they took their blankies and pillows outside as the evening air cooled and watched the clouds.

Yesterday they sat close together, leaning against the net while biggest brother read them a stack of books.

Before that it was the empty plastic easter eggs that bounced around them. (I was told they exploded in mid air.)

I don't know if we'll get to set up the trampoline when we move. E asked me recently,"Would you rather have a 3 bedroom with access to a pool, or a 4 bedroom with a yard."  Tough choices here, people! I tend to think that a pool is a summer thing and the trampoline is a winter thing.  So you need BOTH, right?

FF:Upcycled birthday gift

Miss M was invited to a birthday party for a girl in her preschool class.  I had just patched her brothers jeans and turned three pair into shorts.  So I decided to make a little purse with one of those pant legs.

I dug around in an office drawer and found a package of tshirt transfer paper.  The party invitation came with tink on the front, so I printed a picture of the fairy.  Then I ironed it onto a white tshirt that I had bought at a yard sale to use in a craft.  I sewed it onto the jean, and made it a pocket.  I finished it the lazy way by adding a piece of ribbon.  YAY! I spent $0 to make this birthday gift.
As we get ready to move, we're always looking for ways to downsize.  I want to USE my craft supplies instead of throwing them out, or hauling more boxes to the next place.  But I AM glad I had hauled these supplies from the last place.
